Strength without a loud tobacco tone
Burn's dark range is built on toasted Burley — a blend of Burley varieties given high-temperature processing. The choice was not accidental: the makers wanted a leaf that delivers high strength while not carrying a loud tobacco flavour of its own. The logic is simple — the quieter the leaf itself, the more cleanly a flavouring sits on top of it.
The result is exactly that: dense smoke, pronounced nicotine and flavours built on depth rather than sweetness. It is an uncommon combination — strength usually has to be paid for with a tobacco background in every draw.
Why it feels stronger than Darkside
Smokers consistently rate Burn as heavier than Darkside. What is interesting is that the numbers barely differ: published figures put it at 0.277% nicotine against Darkside Core's 0.273%. In other words, the sense of strength comes less from nicotine than from the character of the leaf and the density of the smoke.
The practical takeaway: if you are steering by the numbers in a product description, they will mislead you. Steer by how the first bowl actually feels, and pack less than seems right.
Origin: marketing and factory are different things
The brand presents itself through an American origin story, but production is Russian — the strong line reached the market in 2018. In the HookaDex catalogue the country flag follows the factory, not the marketing, which is why Burn is labelled Russian.

How to smoke it
Standard dark-leaf logic: a phunnel, a loose untamped pack, three coals and a careful warm-up. Since the strength is high and the flavour deep, under-heating beats over-heating — excess heat turns that depth into bitterness quickly. Packs run from 20 and 25 g up to 100 and 200 g, and the small sizes make sense here precisely because of the strength.
Who it suits
Burn is for smokers already comfortable with dark leaf who want more weight than the middle of the market offers. It is not a group tobacco and not a first choice.
